Transporting Dinosaurs

Year 1

This term our new theme is dinosaurs. We have looked at a poem called The King of all the Dinosaurs which is about a monstrous Tyrannosaurus Rex. We spent the first part of the week acting out each verse then we moved onto writing our own verses using poetic features.

1D are performing a verse of the poem below:

To give us some ideas for our writing we listened to a sound bite of a Tyrannosaurus Tex roaring. We wrote down similes and onomatopoeia words to add to our verses.

Year 2

This week in Literacy we have been looking at a poem called Travel Details by Stewart Henderson. To help us remember the poem we created actions for each line. Here is a video clip of the first verse of the poem. The actions are performed by agroup of children while the rest of the class read the verse.

Inspired by photographs of a range of vehicles we also created a class poem describing three well known vehicles.

Check back next week for more fantastic writing! Don't forget to share your thoughts and feelings.

Well done! You have used powerful adjectives such as glistening and dazzling and a simile such as colossal as a giant.
